Glass Angel

This is the 'Glazen Engel' (Glass Angel), made by sculpturor Herman Lamers, looking out over the market square of Zwolle. It is constructed from 350 pieces of (1cm thick) glass plates piled and glued together, making the statue more or less transparent.
I can't say that I'm thrilled about it, but I still wanted to show you because I think it's quite unusual, maybe even a bit unique. So, what do you think? Do you like it?

  1. Uhm, I'd rename it the Green Giant. But I would agree that it does appear unique. :-)

  2. Ik ken deze, heb hem ook eens geplaatst..... Ik vind het materiaal heel raar voor een standbeeld en kan het niet mooi vinden.

  3. I'm not sure... kind of clashes with the surroundings. Maybe in a different location.

  4. A special statue. But I think the color is not good, it could have been a completely colorless.

  5. Tis very unusual but I never see angels dressed in blue jeans and shoes. Rather to me, they are dressed in while flowing material.

  6. I rather like it! I am sure it is especially nice on sunny days when the light shines through.
