Vrijersduun

Going from the town of Nes to the beach, you pass a dune with a stone saying 'Vrijersduun', or 'lovers dune'. It is part of a row of dunes there on the island Ameland, grown with bushes and trees, with a street on one side and houses on the other. I tried to find more information about the why and when, but to no avail! So if you happen to know more, I would very much like to know. Thanks! :)

Als je vanuit Nes naar het strand gaat, kom je langs het 'vrijersduun', dat hoort bij een met bomen en struiken begroeide duinenrij op Ameland, met aan de ene kant een weg en aan de andere kant huizen. Ik heb geprobeerd wat meer informatie te vinden over het hoe en waarom, maar tevergeefs! Dus als jij meer weet, zou ik het graag horen. Dank je wel! :)
